500 Matches for this one-club Champion

The club is excited to celebrate a rare 500 Game Milestone for our current Club President, David Rossborough in round 2 (if selected lol) for the AYC / AYC Harlequins Cricket Club this weekend.
David, aged only 7 years and 10mth played his first game in round 3 on the 20th October of the 1979/80 season that is actually 45 years ago this Sunday to mark another nice anniversary.
Starting in the U12s Black (AYC's u12s 2nd XI with AYC Red being the 1st XI) David started with a home game at Ashwood High School against Bulleen Gold. David went on to play 77 junior games across the under 12s, 14s and 16s while making his senior debut at the same time in the 3rd XI in the season of 1986/87.
During his senior career, David captained the 3rd XI to premiership success in 1991/92 before making his 2nd XI debut and going on to represent the AYC 1st XI 57 times with a 1st XI HS of 79. David was a member of the first AYC Harlequins premiership team in 2016/17 and has played 422* senior games to date.
On the ground David has batted many in the top order and displayed an aggressive batting style netting him 9,724* (snr) runs @ 23.83 with a HS of 107 (his only ton) with 64 half centuries while hitting a large percentage of boundaries. Not known for his blowing abilities, David has 42 scalps (very unlucky batsman) to his name with BB of 4/27 while taking 236 catches, 26 runouts and 6 stumping after spending many years behind the stumps keeping or in 1st slip. David is a 4 time winner of the LOC Trophy as the best one-day player with numerous individual awards collected along the way as well.
David has played cricket alongside his Dad, Fred Snr, brothers Mick & Fred Jnr, sons Alex, Jake & Joel, nephews Luke, Mitch and niece Steph with a long list of uncles and cousins as well.
David is honoured to have played alongside his family and so many close mates and now the children of those mates over the years and he said it has been a privilege to have played with the best of the best cricketers at the club over many years.
David acknowledges that one of his favourite seasons was 2016/17 not only for the premiership, but that he got to open the batting alongside his nephew Luke in a dominant season where they combined for 1,200+ runs after both having outstanding seasons getting the side off to a soild start most games with two 100+ run opening partnerships.
David credits his older brother Mick as the best all-round player he has played with or seen at the club as well as played under as a coach, but also acknowledges as brothers they would offen clash and not see eye-to-eye on many things, but it was always in trying to do the best for the club.
Off the ground David is a life member, 4x club president (over 3 stints) and a former club secretary and treasurer, having served the committee in just about every role for close to 30 years and has twice been the recipient of the Best Clubman award.
500 games for the one club over 45 years is an unbelievable milestone and a magnificent achievement to a loyal and devoted clubman and from everyone associated with the AYC / AYC Harlequins Cricket Club past and present, we congratulate David and wish him all the very best for Saturday where he will take the field for the 500th time and again proudly next to his son Jake.
The AYC Harlequins 2nd XI are playing at home at Markham Reserve, so if your free, please drop in and congratulate the big fella personally.
Thank you.
