Celebrating Jim Macgibbon's contribution to community cricket

Celebrating ECAs History

We were delighted to welcome the spry 91 year old John Macgibbon who was accompanied by his daughter Annmarie Stelfox to the Macgibbon Shield Grand Final at Maclaey Park. John did the honors of presenting the Shield named in his father Jim's honour, to Nick Sparks, the winning Captain from Trinity Willison Cricket Club.

Jim Macgibbon was tireless in his volunteer work in the community. We had the privilege of sitting down with his John at the end of the 2020-21 season to talk about his dad and how his involvement in cricket came about.  It is a fascinating story that speaks of cricket traditions and rivalry in Eastern Melbourne.  We hope you enjoy the story.
