400th Game Milestone - Some big shots
20 Seasons of performing at the top level in the ECA
The ECA Executive extends its warmest congratulations to Chris Menz on the occasion of his 400th game for Deepdene Uniting. We wish him all the best for this Saturday when he resumes the innings on 66not out and for the remainder of this season and the many seasons ahead. We thank Scott Riddle for providing this fitting tribute for a wonderful club man.
From Scott Riddle
Secretary of the Deepdene Uniting Cricket Club
CJ has been a mainstay of the Deeners 1st XI for over 20 seasons, terrorising countless opening bowling attacks in all forms of the game. His ability to hit the new ball cleanly to all parts of the ground make him one of the most dangerous openers in the competition. A master of the one week calf strain, there are not many things that will stand in the way of CJ taking the field each week - as this achievement proves.

An electrician by trade, Chris is also the club’s 'go to man’ for all Frogbox, e-scoring and fridge-filling duties. The Menz family (CJ’s father Peter Menz is a former Deener great) have been pivotal to the success of the club since the 1960s, with parents Pete and Rhonda, and Chris, all Life Members of the club.
The club joins all members, supporters and ECA cricket lovers in congratulating Chris on this marvellous achievement - just the 3rd Deener to reach this 400 game milestone behind Neill Hocking and Alister Wilkie.
