They say “there’s no show without Punch”, … well, there’s no Club without Bill whose impact at St Barnabas/Balwyn Saints has been immeasurable. His efforts over the years saw the club grow from a minnow to a powerhouse through the late 70s, 80s, and 90s. People stayed because of him. Bill remains as important today as he was during his storied 403-game career or his presidency and committee years. The conduit between past and present players, Bill organises 200/300 game player events, is a presence at all club events, and awards life memberships (and still has final approval of who gets one). In my years playing cricket everyone has spoken fondly of Bill. The quintessential clubman: kind, generous, welcoming, humble. A cricketing treasure, the room is always better when Bill is in it.”
