North Alphington host the Woolworths Blasters program with the help of former Afghanistan National Team players Naz and Firooza.
It is an aspect of the ECA season that goes unhearlded, however the Woolworths Blaster Program for our youngest cricketers is absolutely vital to the sustainability of community cricket. So, it was wonderful to be invited to see more 50 juniors (and the coordinators) in action in the North Alphington Cricket Club program at Pitcher Park earlier this month. On hand were three wonderful organisers, Tara Adams, Emma Sherry and Naz. Naz is one of two women from the former Afghansistan National team who regularly help out in the program. Of all the challenges Naz had adjusting to life in Australia, nothing would have prepared her for keeping these youngsters focused and engaged over the hour-long session. From where we stood, Naz looked a natural and with the help of the other junior assistants also, everyone was having a ball. We managed to have a quick chat to Emma, Tara and Naz about the program at NACC.
You can listen to their story in an interview with Naz below.
