Adam Ahmed wins the Dunstan Medal
Adam Ahmed from Mont Albert Cricket Club has won the Dunstan Medal as the best player in the Dunstan Shield for Season 2025-26. The bowling all rounder took 39 wickets at an average of 15.3 with his left arm orthodox, and made 201 runs at an average of 28.7 It was a clffhanger end to the count of the umpires votes at the Annual Presentation Night at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club. The medal was decided in the last round of the season. At the end of the penultimate round (13), Adam was equal second with three other players on 12 votes, including his team mate and skipper Andrew Padbury. The others were Old Carey veteran Rahul 'Ricky' Khera, and Christopher Thewlis from Glen Iris. Adam was the only player to poll votes in the round - 2 votes agains Bulleen. Which was quite an achievement given that he was on the losing side in the match up against Bulleen.
Speaking from home in the UK via a video link, Adam thanked the umpires, and was full of praise for his teammates and the Mont Albert Cricket Club for their hospitality throughout the season. He enjoyed the competitiveness of the Dunstan Shield and he paid credit to Old Carey for their Dunstan Shield Grand Final win. We congratulate Adam for his achievement.
