Mont Albert win on first day.
Mont Albert 1/90 def Edinburgh 88
Endinburgh's impressive 12 month rise from wining the Wright Shield Premiership from fourth, to the top four of Dunstan Shield came to an abrupt halt today in the Semi Final against Mont Albert. It was a disappointing end to an othewise excellent season.
In one of those days all cricketers prefer to forget, Edinburgh's batting effort against the excellent Mont Albert bowling was simply not good enough and they posted a meagre 88 - which Mont Albert knocked off just after 6pm in just 23 overs.
After winning the critical toss on a day that can only be described as perfect for batting, there was very little to cheer about for the visiting spectators. By the time the mercury was hitting the mid 30s, Edinburgh were in all sorts of strife at 7-70. Jack Morley (4/23) and Charlie Bennett (3/29) were excellent while Mont Albert skipper Andrew Padbury picked up his opposite number Suraj for 1. Xavier Di Scala (20) worked hard for his runs, and James Southby looked set in his patient 29 from 70 balls.
After losing Jack Woods (8) early, Lachlan Fraser (39*) and and James Guley (34*) put together an 80 run unbroken partnership to steer their side into the Grand Final, much to the delight of the large home crowd who will be willing their team to go one better this season.

Sensational century to Amrit Basra sets up huge first inning total
North Balwyn 7/307 v Old Carey
Old Carey will have to do everything right chasing total
North Balwyn's Amrit Basra went from 51 from 102 balls to 124 of 161 balls to smash his team into a strong position at the end of day one against Old Carey. He and Nitesh Patel (56 from 117) shared a 109 run middle order partnership. When they came together North Balwyn were 3/76 and Old Carey were well and truly in the hunt. But the partnership proved cricital and in the unrelenting heat of afternoon sun and as the innings went on, Old Carey struggled to find any answers to the home side onslaught. Tad Merry picked up 2/36 from his 14.
