Main Rule Changes for the 2023/24 Season
Rule 3.12.2 deleted: Every team shall have written in its scorebook the address of the home ground for the team and Triple Zero (000) to contact emergency services (ambulance, fire and police).
Rule 3.14.4 ii) Replace with: There is a limit of two interchange players in Dunstan Shield, Wright Shield, A & B Turf and MacGibbon, Burt, Menzies & Mackay Shield and A Synthetic. In all other grades there is a limit of three interchange players.
Rule 4.1.4 Replace with: There shall be no over reduction for change of innings. Rule that was deleted: On Day One only, there shall be a 3 (three) over reduction to the overs per day for any change of innings except where a termination of innings occurs within the times designated in Rule 4.2 for taking of the tea break. If a change of innings occurs and 3 overs or less are remaining on Day One then play shall cease for the day. The overs lost due to a change of innings will not be made-up on Day Two.
Rule 4.11.4/4.7.3 added: If at the conclusion of the Over Requirement for Day 1, a small number of runs are required or wickets to be taken to win the match and both captains wish to continue playing in order to achieve a definite result on that day, play will continue until either the match concludes or the players have cause to leave the field for any reason.
Rule 4.12.2 Replace last two sentences with: There shall be no over reduction for change of innings. Rule 4.2.3/5.3.1/6.3.1/7.3.1/8.4.1 replace with: The refreshment break shall be for a period of 20 minutes, regardless of the actual starting time of the break.
Rule 4.5.1/4.6.1 at the end of the first sentence add: For the purposes of determining the time lost, the time to be used for the close of play in such circumstances will be 6.00pm.
Rule 4.9.1 iii) Add new rule: Should play on Day One be interrupted at or after 6:30pm no further play will take place.
Rule 5.2.2/5B1.1 .3/6.2.2 Replace (in table) with: Before the start of the game the Revised Number of Overs for each team/game should be agreed by the umpires or captains.
Rule 5A.2.2 or 5A.2.3 (LOC5 and below only) Add New Rule: All One-Day Matches under this rule will be played under the following requirements: i. The Bowling side will bowl overs in six (6) over lots from each end until the last set of overs where it will 5 overs. ii. At the completion of each over lot, the bowling side shall change end. iii. At the completion of each over, which is NOT a change of ends, the two (2) batters will switch ends
Rule 9.1.1 Replace with: For all matches in all Grades the designated home team will make available a device suitable to electronically score the game. Currently the PlayHQ App is the recommended platform. To assist with this, every team must be entered into the system before the game commences.
Rule 9.1.4 Replace with: At the end of the match both captains are to ensure their players names, as listed on the team sheet or agreed during the match, are recorded within the Competition Management Platform.
Rule 9.1.7 Replace with: The captains and any official umpires shall ensure the scoring devices are completed and correct at the end of each day of play.
