With the AFL season done and dusted for another year, we officially welcome the start of the new cricket season. Isn’t it amazing how a few days of warm Melbourne Spring days can remind us of cricket so easily? Until I looked at the weather forecast this morning, I was optimistic we would all get on the park next weekend. Fingers crossed! One thing is for sure, no one wants a repeat of the big wet from last season
PlayHQ
The transition from MyCricket to PlayHQ has been a challenge.
As I write this, clubs volunteers are working overtime to be prepared for this new system. I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of the dedicated volunteers in all our clubs for your commitment to the task.
Club administration is a tough job at the best of times. Your efforts on PlayHQ are priceless and appreciated. As are the efforts of all volunteers.
Likewise, PlayHQ has added to the already substantial workload shouldered by our our hard-working ECA volunteers The people who administer our Turf, Senior, Synthetic, Juniors, Girls/Women’s and Veteran competitions are our unsung heroes.
Without your work, we simply wouldn't have an association. Thank you.
ECA Media
One of the areas of community cricket the ECA is a leader, is the quality and depth of the media coverage we give our respective competitions.
This is all due to the work of our Communications Manager Michael Mirabella, and the generosity of time and resources donated by Chris Mirabella and Maureen Hegarty from our major sponsor Communus. We are lucky to have them.
The Executive has identified this aspect of our organisation as of major strategic importance and we have taken steps to locking Chris and Michael in so we can continue to build upon it. Read more about what we have done, and the implications for the clubs here .
ECA Sponsorship & Advertising Opportunities
We thank Bendigo Community Bank - Inner East, for their ongoing support of the Eastern Cricket Association. Last week we received a generous donation for 2023-24 which will be put to good use supporting our cricket programs.
We also welcome a new sponsor, Grayson’s Gutter Cleaning. CEO Grayson O’Conner approached us last year for a sponsorship opportunity. The ECA provides great exposure for community-focused businesses like Grayson’s and Bendigo Bank.
If you would like to become an advertiser/sponsor of the ECA - please contact Michael Mirabella via
Pre-season Delegates Meeting
Finally, a reminder we have the preseason ECA/EGWC (Eastern Girls and Women’s Cricket) delegates meeting on,Monday 2 October. at the North Balwyn Bowls Club. The EGWC kicks of at 6pm. I am looking forward to catching up with as many club delegates and other representatives as possible.
Kind Regards
Neil
