Glen Iris wins the Under16A Grace Shield Premiership

Claim the coveted Grace Shield with two away wins

Adam Rixon, Jas Tudor steamroll Balwyn Blasters

Congratulations to Glen Iris who have claimed the covented Under16A Premiership for Season 2023-24. They won both finals away from home, Kew in the Semi Final, and Balwyn Blasters in the Grand Final. The Under16A grade is one of the most competitive grades in the ECA and premierships are notoriously difficult to win given the depth of talent in all the sides.  In the Semi Final round, Balwyn Blasters caused an upset by rolling the highly-fancied Mont Albert outfit at Elgar Park to progress to the final. Glen Iris won their semi in a thriller at Victoria Park, scoring the winning runs in the final over of the game. The chase was anchored by the player of the series Adam Rixon who top scored with 58. Earlier, Kew seemingly had their innings in full control - as Anagha Bhan (45) was going at better than a run-a-ball. But Glen Iris's bowlers struck as Glen Iris crashed from 1/62 for 5/67. A rear guard effort by Parth Rath (30) and Daniel Joshua (15*) saw them post a defendable 8.141. Glen Iris were in trouble early, losing two quick wickets - but Adam Rixon received great middle order support from Benji Randabel (27) and Lachlan Simpson (17) to set up the win. Luke Suckling peeled off a four off the third ball of the last over to clinch the match.
