Edinburgh makes statement in Dunstan

Defeat the reigning champs North Balwyn at home

We are one month into the season and it's Edinburgh that is getting everyone's attention in Dunstan Shield. Edinburgh won their promotion to Dunstan after winning the Wright Shield from fouth place - when they defeated East Malvern Tooronga by four runs in a thriller. They sit second on the ladder at the end of Round 4 with a 3-1 record. They have defeated both of last years Dunstan Grand Finalists in the process. Skipper Suraj Kaluhalamulla has been in rich form - scoring a ton in their first Dunstan outing when they upset Mont Albert at Mont Albert by defending a heatlhy 3/253. He followed that up with 83 from 88 when his side chased Old Carey's total of 182 down comfortably. The team had a stumble against Bulleen at Bulleen in Round 3.  Bulleen recovered from 2/4 batting first to post 157 and despite Suraj's 57 in the chase - Bulleen, lead by all-rounder Thilan Nimesh (4/30) collapsed - all out for 135. . 

In this round they bounced back, when they defeated North Balwyn at home. The win was set up by James Southby (101* from 114) who came to the crease at 1/3 and then proceeded to play a perfect anchor innings against the disciplined North Balwyn attack. He scored his ton in the last over of the innings. In the chase, North Balwyn opening duo of Max Tomkinson and Louis Macciocca were fresh of an epic 

The win leaves then in second place on percentage. It was North Balwyn's first loss for the season. The first month of cricket is done and you can throw a blanket over the top four  with only one Saturday lost to weather
