Synthetic: Weekend Wrap

Can Trinity Willison be beaten?  Firsts and Seconds undefeated going into December. Perfect batting conditions week one, perfect bowling conditions week two.

Top of the table clash a non-event, as Trinity Willison assert their dominance in Macgibbon. The two-piece hoops on day two.

The clash of the undefeated Deepdene Uniting and Trinity Willison was effectively decided on day one when the Deeners had a day they would prefer to forget. Jake Barker (4-17 from 16 overs) ripped through the hosts with an outstanding spell. He and Gabe Kennedy (3/24) gave nothing away. Anthony Kyrkou (58) played a defiant knock but could only find support from Michael Seeley (30).  It was going to take an extraordinary effort to defend 132. Nick Sparks (52) and Michael Sparks (41*) made short work of the chase. The win leaves Trinity Willison undefeated on top with a monster percentage.
In other Macgibbon matches, Malinga De Silva (87*) and Andrew Lammardo (67) propelled Burwood Uniting Canterbury to 272 - Toorak-Prahran's top order worked hard, but a dominant performance with the ball by Dasun Senevirathna (5/31) and Malinga De Silva (4/40) saw the guests bundled out for 127.
At Ramsden Street, a match winning partnership betwen Hugh Ingham (66) and James Clift (36) saw Clifton Hill home in what should never have been a tight tussle against Boroondara - Boroondara's bowlers threw the kitchen sink at the hosts in their defence of a way under par 118. On day one, Louis Burstin (4/24) and Adam Weir (2/19) dominated Boroondara. If not for the Boorondara bowlers (8,9 & 10 scored more than 50% of the runs) this game would have been over very early.  Tharindu Rudrigu (3/28) and Matthew Carlyon (2/23) made the hosts earn every run.
At Southern Reserve, Glen Waverley's captain Damien Sheehan (62) and opener Declan Foley (43) set up a nice foundation for their innings, but it was Chris Flier (23) and Daniel Mceniry (60 from 43) who combined for a crucial 85 run partnership at the end of the innings to elevate their side from 8/179 to 264 in what would be a match winning effort against St Pauls. Skipper Kieran Nolan (53) and Adam Caarels (43) didn't get enough support and the hosts were never in the chase - bowled out for 124. Michael MacDonald (3/17) and Dilhan Rahubadde Kankanange (2/32) relished the conditions.

Trinity Willison's seconds also undefeated - Mt Waverley come up just short at Frog Hollow in Burt Shield. 600 runs scored at Brentwood Reserve. Monash Roaders almost pull off a miracle.

In Burt Shield, the top of the table clash between the undefeated Trinity Willison and Mt Waverley Catholics saw an epic battle at Frog Hollow - the hosts just held of MWC. Lower order pair Shane Griffin (12*) and Anthony Mulligan (19) almost pinched the game - posting a 31 run 9th wicket partnership. But Zander Panopoulos (2/15) made the critical breakthrough to ensure TWs seconds matched the firsts by going undefeated into round 7.
At Carlson Reserve, the Monash Roaders almost pulled off their own miracle - recovering from 6-55 to get within striking distance of West Ivanhoe United.  West Ivanhoe posted a healthy total of 9/256 on day one. Brian Byrne (59) top scored for the visitors.  Ajay Kumar was outstanding with the ball taking 5/66. In the chase, the Roaders were heading for a wipe-out despite a fine 84 by opener Gurinderjit Singh. Hunter Ross (5/63) and Tom Kirby (2/32) ran through the top order.  But a 109 partnership between Arif Hossain (78) and Dulhan Karunaratne (41) tunred the game on its head, and the visitors had to dig-deep to get the six points.
Glen Waverley's decision to bowl first on a perfect batting day backfired - Mount Waverley's openers Sarmad Baba (111) and Gurjeev Singh Mann (44) laid the base.  Then a fine 86 by Awais Ali Baloch ensured a 300+ total. In a remarkable stat - all 10 Glen Waverley batters got a start - reaching double figures - but no-one could get above 50 - 271 a worthy chase but one of those matches that ''çould have been.'' Gurjeev Singh Mann (4/84) was outstanding with the ball for Mount Waverley

In Menzies and Mackay STC South Camberwell are undefeated. Dominic Hando, Edward James score tons.

The Menzies & Mackay Shield saw some outstanding individual efforts. Edward James hit 137 opening the batting for Burwood Uniting Canterbury in their big win over Toorak-Prahran. STC South Camberwell ensured they remained undefeated  due largely to a ton by Skipper Dominic Hando (127). Trinity Willison's No 3 Jacob Lewis (88) didn't get much support from the middle order - and pulled up just short with 217 chasing 239. Richard Bland (4/25) and Aneek Sengupta (4/37) were impressive with their spells.
North Alphington's Matthew Obst (75*) made short work of their chase against Boroondara - Tim Kerr (59) top scored for the visitors. Seamus Danailoff (5/20) cleaned up the Boroondara lower order.
A brilliant ton by Burwood's Oliver Bryant (106 - run out) wasn't enough, as Blackburn North United's top order put together a professional, no-nonsense performance to chase down 223. Opener Campbell Furze (62) top scored.
Clifton Hill's Adam Lewis (108) hit a ton in their win against Glen Waverley in the MJ Shaw Shield.
