Ball dominates bat on day one of Macgibbon Round 11

Sixty four wickets fall on a mild January Saturday. Second innings results in play

With the top three in Macgibbon looking comfortably set for finals, all interest is on the battle for the fourth spot where Boroondara and Glen Waverley are both in contention. Day one of round 11 produced some unusual scoreboards, as the ball completely dominated the bat. At Ramsden Street, 17 wickets fell - with Deepdene Uniting needing just eight runs to overtake the home side's modest 119. They have three wickets in hand, and there may still be some nervous moments in the first half hour on Saturday. Deepdene United's Adam Peat was in good form picking up 4/28 in his 12 overs.
We finally got to Orrong Park this season where we saw Toorak-Prahran's Will Roberts (4/44) run through the visitors Glen Waverley.  But thanks to Dean Siakoulis with 46* and some lower order resistance, the visitors were able to post 143 - which may be enough with TP 7/80 in response.  Not out batters Charlie Warner (20*) and Laughlan Gumley will be planning to put a partnership togther which might still get them over the line.
At HA Smith Reserve, Boroondara may have squandared a great opportunity to get one over competition leaders Trinity Willison and a chance to consolidate a place in the four.  Some excellent bowling (and loose shots) saw the guests restricted to 140 - Michael Sparks' excellent season continues top scoring with 61. All of Boroondara's bowlers were on-song, especially a fired-up Will Easton (4/28). But Boroondara's top order struggled against the combination of Tom Clarke (5/28) and Jake Barker (2/19). At 9/75 Boroondara will need a miracle - or will there be an overnight declaration?
At Lynden Park, Burwood Uniting Canterbury's 131 is definitely under par on the #2 oval  against St Paul's.  It would have been considerably worse without BUCs wagging tail - Dane McRae (20 at #10) and Alex Barr (40 @#11). Michael Jenkin made a patient (37* off 167). We are not writing off the hosts just yet - Malinga De Silva 1/6 from 6 overs and Dasun Seneviranthna 0/11 from five suggests this game is far from over.
