Tons to Monty, Matt Gobbo and Kieran Nolan. Macgibbon Round Five Wrap
Trinity Willison in second gear against Boroondara
For visiting teams, Frog Hollow is looking more like a fortress than a suburban cricket oval as the undefeated Trinity Willison notched up another big win in round five. After being invited to bat, the visitors Boroondara were in a good position at 1/87 with skipper Nathan Douglas (43) and Ben Douglas (50) putting together a great foundation for a big total. But when Dem Panopoulos made the breakthrough, claiming Nathan Douglas, Michael Sparks (4/30) and Jake Barker (2/13) went to work picking up regular wickets to restrict Boroondara to 8/165.
This was never going to be enough against a strong TW line up. And it wasn't - Nick Sparks (47), John Graves (66*) and Michael Sparks (45*) made light work of the chase, overhauling the total in the 28th over with the loss of just one wicket

At Brentwood Reserve, a 167 run parternship between Hemant 'Monty' Rana (100 from 126) and Bipanpreet Singh (73) set up home side Glen Waverley's healthy 5/228. The two ran well between the wickets and used the spacious outfield to pick up twos and threes to frustrate the visitors. In reply, it was a one-man stand - with Matt Gobbo hitting a brilliant ton - his 121 came off just 104 balls - which included 10 boundaries and five sixes. The next highest score was 16. Toorak-Prahran were bowled out for 201.
Glen Waveley Wicket keeper Chris Filer picked up three catches. Dilhan Rahubadde Kankanange was the pick of the bowlers with a tidy spell of 4/27 from his 8.
Burwood Uniting Canterbury in a comfortable win over St Pauls, despite Kieren Nolan century.
At Southern Reserve, home side St Pauls were invited to bat first at the toss. After losing Zach Tzitsikas early, skipper Kieran Nolan (106*) and Adam Caarels combined for a century partnership. However a disciplined Burwood Uniting Canterbury's team bowling effort, backed by some good fielding, restricted St Pauls to just 3/172 - which looked under par. Opposing captain Rishab Guddadamane (71*) batting at three, anchored the chase. Burwood Uniting Canterbury's other batters, did enough to get them over the line in the 39th over.

Clifton Hill chose to bat first in their round 5 clash against Deepdene Uniting at Hays Paddock. Matty 'Malty' Lynas opened the batting and scored a run-a-ball 59. Despite some starts by other middle order batters, only Finn Peake (49 from 37) went on. Their 184 (with 4 overs left out on the park) looked well under par. Adam Peat picked up 3/30. However Clifton Hill's bowling effort was comendeble and they pushed the home side all the way to the final over of the match before they overtook the target. Christopher Menz top scored with 44.
Deepdene Unitings win leaves them undefeated and sets up a mouth-watering clash against Trinity Willison in Round 6 - a two day fixture at Hays Paddock.
