Glen Waverley, Boroondara in a battle for fourth spot in Macgibbon Shield

Glen Waverley fails to land psychological blow against Trinity Willison in a rare two-day tie. Fighting for their fourth spot in the final round

The final round of the Macgibbon season will determine the fourth spot on the ladder, with both Glen Waverley and Boroondara in contention.  The top three sides, Trinity Willison, Deepdene Uniting and Burwood Uniting Canterbury are all lock-ins for the finals.
Last weekend, in Round 12, Glen Waverley and Trinity Willison played out the rarest of results, a two day match that ended in a thrilling tie.
While the extra three points for Glen Waverley for a win would have made no difference to the final round - they have to win regardless - it was an opportunity lost. Trinity Willison have only been beaten once this season - when Burwood Uniting Canterbury's batters took the long handle to the TW attack in a one-day blitz in Round 8
Otherwise, TW have taken on all comers and have been impressive all season and deserve their top spot. A GW win would have given confidence to everyone in the competition, that TW are beatable. The flip side, is that this was a perfect rehearsal for lead in to the typically tight semi-finals round for TW.
Chasing 216,TW were 6/97, then 9/148. TWs number 11, Jake Baker (38) and number 10, Zach Schloeffel (24*) combined for a 68 run partnership to tie the scores. This author left the match with about an hour to go, but while I was there, it was evident this was a high quality match with both batters and bowlers being challenged every ball. Photos to come.
Meanwhile, Boroondara comfortably held of Toorak Prahran at home to keep their finals hopes alive. With a superior percentage, if they defeat St Pauls (at St Pauls), and Glen Waverley stumbles against Clifton Hill (at Ramsden St), then they would move into fourth spot. The other match of interest, is the clash between Trinity Willison and Burwood Uniting Canterbury (at Frog Hollow). Will BUCCC be able to land a blow in a two day match going into the finals?  Will TW be up and about this time around against them?
All eyes will be on these three matches.

Glen Waverley's Bipanpreet 'Jot' Singh had a brilliant match - top scoring for his side with 95* - and picking up 2/30 from 14 overs against top side Trinity Willison in their Round 12 Macgibbon Shield match
