A Bond Between Clubs in Veterans Cricket - the Jerome Durkin Trophy

Matt Higgins discusses the bond between Glen Iris and dingle in the Vets Competition

With the upcoming Vets Div 1 (PCFA Cup) Grand Final being held at Dingley Reserve between Dingley and reigning premiers Melbourne University (Details can be found here), Dingley Vets Coordinator Aldrin De Zilva reached out wanting to stress the importance of Vets cricket, using Dingley's relationship with Glen Iris as an example.
Every year the two sides meet in the vets comp, they play for the 'Jezza' Cup, named after Glen Iris' Jerome Durkin who tipified the mateship shown in vets cricket, who unfortunately passed away a week before the two sides were due to meet in a Grand Final.
Glen Iris' Matt Higgins tells the wonderful story between how two clubs in completely different suburbs became mates, and how Jerome, brought them closer. Please listen to the above interview.
