Balwyn Saints celebrate the life of Mick Barclay

On the first anniversary of his passing, Club reflects on the enormous contribution Mick Barclay made to the club

Mick Barclay was a legend of the Balwyn Saints (St Barnabas and North Balwyn Combined) cricket community. This weekend was the first anniversary of his passing, and the club celebrated his memory by inviting friends, family and all other supporters to Balwyn Park; who turned up in droves and according to those in the know, left all the bars empty. We spoke with Club President Gavin Collopy and former president Mike Brettargh just before the match to hear about what sort of person Mick was, and what he meant to the club. This is well worth a listen as it speaks to not just the impact Mick Barclay had on his club, but also serves as a reminder to just how clubs are indebted to their tireless volunteers. And why community cricket is so important.
