The Eastern Cricket Association (ECA) respects your privacy. This statement explains how we collect, use and protect personal information through our website, easterncricket.au. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

We only collect information we need to run the competition and the website. This may include:
- Contact details you give us, such as your name, email address and phone number, when you use a contact form or subscribe to updates.
- Club and competition details, such as your club, team and role, when you register or submit information to the ECA.
- Technical information collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited and time spent on the site.
You can browse most of the website without telling us who you are.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- respond to your enquiries
- administer fixtures, results, registrations and other competition matters
- send news and updates you have asked for by email, using Mailchimp (you can unsubscribe at any time)
- maintain, secure and improve the website.
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
When we share information
We only share personal information when it is needed for the purpose you gave it, or when the law requires it. This may include:
- member clubs and Cricket Victoria, for competition administration
- PlayHQ, the platform we use for registrations, fixtures and results, which handles your information under its own privacy policy
- service providers who help run the website, such as our web host, and our email service, Mailchimp, which stores data in the United States
- authorities, where required or authorised by law.
Cookies and analytics
Our website uses cookies, which are small files stored by your browser. Some are needed for the site to work properly; others help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We use Google Analytics, which collects information in a form that does not identify you personally.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may then not work as intended.
Our website may link to other sites, such as club pages or social media. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Our website uses a secure (HTTPS) connection, and access to personal information is limited to people who need it for ECA business. We keep information only as long as we need it, then delete or de-identify it.
